Army veteran, baker, and founder of Bucket of Bread Chris Wysong joined the U.S. Army right out of high school and spent over 20 years in service. During that time, he traveled the world, including to Desert Storm, Korea, Panama, Guatemala, and Iraq. While stationed in Germany, he fell in love with real bakery bread—fresh, simple, and comforting. Then, in Iraq, he found myself baking with Iraqi Army cooks. After returning to Wisconsin, he kept baking. He made loaves for events and charity fundraisers, and soon he imagined putting his dough recipe in a bucket and using that as a platform to help people. With support from local small business resources, he turned that dream into a plan. After renovating a facility, passing inspections, finding insurance, and securing licenses, Bucket of Bread was born.
