Manufacturing 101: Process Mapping to Visualize How Your Operation Works

Most small operations run on knowledge that lives in the owner’s head. This session gives you a shared language for how work moves through your shop, from order to shipment. You will learn the core vocabulary of process mapping and build a simple map of one workflow in your own shop. We focus on spotting the delays, rework, and waste that cost you time and money.

By the end, you will be able to:

• Use key process-mapping terms with confidence (value stream, cycle time, bottleneck, work in process, and more)
• Draw a basic map of one workflow in your shop
• Identify two or three points where time or material gets lost
• Leave with a worksheet to map a second process on your own
