Jen Barney is a classically trained baker and pastry chef who has a true passion for creating beautiful, delicious desserts; she also happens to have a unique entrepreneurial story!  As a graduate of the acclaimed “Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts,” Jen began her career fifteen years ago as a wedding cake decorator. In 2015, she opened ‘Meringue Bakery’ from a commercial kitchen in her home.  Jen won Food Network’s Holiday Baking Championship in 2017 and Holiday Baking Championship Homecoming Special in 2018 and is known nationwide for her decadent confections and hand-painted cakes.

During the pandemic, Jen moved her business to downtown La Crosse and expanded to ‘Meringue Bakery & Cafe’.  She added café food items to her menu such as soups, sandwiches, salads and fresh drinks, all using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.  But make no mistake, Jen will remain nationally known for her elegant wedding cakes with edible flowers and unique, custom flavors—from classical and subtle, to novel and bold.
