Adelaida Alvarez loves to work with people and was always very interested in the beauty industry. She decided to follow this passion and open her own nail salon. At first, Adelaida didn’t know where to start. Eventually she approached WWBIC, which she calls her “light at the end of the tunnel.” WWBIC gave her a loan to help start her business and continues to provide business technical assistance.
Coquettish Nail Salon opened in 2013 and has created three new jobs. Adelaida hopes to create 10 to 15 more jobs within two years, expanding her business and giving back to the community.

Alex Toole always had a desire to serve the community, which led to his decision to open a branch of State Farm Insurance in 2004 in West Allis.
Years later, Alex faced many challenges. His wife lost her job just after he purchased a building for his business. He was forced to make deep cuts, and faced the threat of having to close his doors. Then Alex discovered WWBIC’s services, and received a loan and business assistance. He was able to stabilize his business, retain his position and that of an employee, and continue serving the community.

After finishing school, Laura Connor decided to follow her dream of running her own practice. However, she needed funds to start her business and was unable to obtain a loan from banks. WWBIC provided Laura with a small business loan, enabling her to start Connor Human Restoration.
The business has grown rapidly, already expanding twice within the first three years of existence. Laura has continued to receive one-on-one business technical assistance from WWBIC on a variety of topics. She hopes to soon expand the scope of what her business offers to include other modalities and expects to create jobs in the future!
